This year, DIALOP contributes to the Annual Conference of the European Academy of Religion (EuARe 2025), taking place in Vienna from 8–12 July 2025. The conference gathers scholars and practitioners from various disciplines to engage in discussions on religion, ethics, and society.
As part of the programme, Angelina Giannopoulou (facilitator at transform! europe and active in DIALOP), Petra Steinmair-Pösel (Social ethics at the KPH-ES in Feldkirch), Bennie Callebaut (Sophia university Institute) will speak in the panel:

This panel is dedicated to how a contemporary dialogue between Christians and Marxists can be designed to address the challenges of European societies in the 21st century. Based on an analysis of current social crises, an interdisciplinary approach will be presented that highlights the affinities between Christian and Marxist traditions. This panel aims to present a productive dialogical methodology and highlight the importance of transversal socio-ethical perspectives that transcend ideological boundaries.
The hosting institution will be the Research Center “Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society” (RaT) – a platform that brings together interdisciplinary research on religion at the University of Vienna.
As in previous years, the conference program will comprise working sessions including open panels, closed panels, book presentations (Author Meets Critique), and keynote lectures focusing on the overarching topic, Religion and Socio-Cultural Transformation: European Perspectives and Beyond.
